Assembling a look is as much about beauty as it is the clothes, shoes and accessories, so it’s no wonder that online fashion superstore, ASOS, has turned its hand to a new line of beauty products under the name of ASOS Makeup and sitting under its brand new section Face & Body. Made with the ASOS customer – millennial pink packaging, surefire giveaway of who that is – in mind, it is makeup that is designed to empower those who use it, in whatever way they see fit. It’s for every creed, colour, and orientation – and prices don’t go above £10 - so whoever you are, there’s something for you.
What you should buy
- Chubby Highligher Stick in Flawed, £9 – Reminiscent of Glossier’s Haloscope highlighters in stick format, ASOS’ creamy offering is remarkably good; in fact, it’s one of the best I’ve found for a really subtle glow because it’s easily blendable and isn't shimmery. As far as I’m concerned, great makeup should blend seamlessly and imperceptibly into skin; this does exactly that and it’s easy to apply. Just roll on from the stick and use fingers to pat into upper cheekbones, cupid’s bow and wherever else the light hits.
- Blusher in Acceptance, £8 – As the autumn months roll in, I swap out my summery, tan-like terracotta shade blushes for deeper rose tones – the ones that mimic the look of wind-blown cheeks. Yes, this is a legit thing and yes, this blush is absolutely perfect for that. It’s very finely milled so, again, blends well onto cheeks and a little goes a long way. Buff onto apples of cheeks with a brush - Bobbi Brown do great ones - and a little on your brow bone for that just-been-to-the-country flush.
- Liquid Pen Eyeliner in Vigilant, £6 – For anyone whose eyes are brown or hazel, like mine, this midnight navy eyeliner is a bit of a party eye game changer. It’ll bring out the colour of your eyes – ya know, the windows to your soul – and because it’s blue and not black (and with a touch of glitter), those windows will be showing the direct route to where da party at. Wear it wisely.
