We’re dedicating the month of October to the Powder Beauty Awards: shouting about the products that we’re currently obsessing over – the very best on the market (in our humble opinions). We’ve swapped stories, tricks and recommendations and landed upon these complete gems.

So what are we waiting for? Here’s are the rest of the skincare winners…

EXFOLIATOR:

1st place: Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Lotion Exfoliant, £25

There is much debate over what makes a good exfoliator - a gritty scrub that feels like it’s physically removing the dead skin or a product that contains a punchy amount of AHAs for a more chemical exfoliation? We feel like there’s a place for both, but nothing transforms skin like Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Lotion Exfoliant. It removes every last flake of dead skin, softens fine lines and wrinkles and repairs sun damage. Work a coin sized amount into your face after cleansing and toning and don’t forget your high SPF.

The 8% is perfect for normal to dry skin - you lucky buggers have skin that’s pretty much like Teflon when it comes to these ingredients - but if you have acne-prone or sensitive skin then they’ve also got lower dose versions.

2nd place: Fresh Sugar Face Polish, £21

This rich and sweet smelling face scrub looks like something concocted on Bake Off, and we’re not going to lie it doesn’t taste half bad either - although of course we really don’t suggest you eat it. But if you prefer a more physical exfoliation then you are going to love what these sugar granules can do.

3rd place: Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads, £12.95

When you’re in a rush, these pre-soaked cotton pads are ideal for swiping over skin to reveal a smoother complexion. If you’ve got sensitive skin, the Gentle version is just as effective.

FACE MASK

1st place: Sand & Sky Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask, £39.50

We’ve already waxed lyrical about this in-demand facemask. It sold out as soon as it launched into the UK (creating a huge waiting list) and with bloody good reason. It’s a brilliant all rounder that suits every skin type and tackles plenty of skin niggles, like enlarged pores, congested skin, oily T-Zones and dull skin.

It’s super easy to apply, thanks to the cute little brush it comes with. Just paint your entire face with it, let it dry, then wash off with a muslin. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

2nd place: Dr Sebagh Deep Exfoliating Mask, £59

This mask isn’t for the feint hearted. The lactic and azeliac acids inside mean that it packs a punch and practically dissolves dead skin cells to reveal a brighter, clear complexion.

3rd place: Dr Hauschka Hydrating Cream Mask, £39.50

There are times when you need a super-active acid-based facemask and then there times when all you want is one that cocoons your face in nourishment and love. This is that exact mask. Ideal for Sunday evenings in front of Netflix.

TONER

1st place: L’Occitane Shea Gentle Toner, £17

After a double cleanse (which we hope you are all doing religiously) your skin needs a little bit of a pick-me-up. We love this alcohol-free L’Occitane for just that. It freshens, softens and preps your face for the next part of your regimen. Soak, and we really do mean soak, a cotton pad with it and work over your entire face to remove any makeup that’s stuck around and level out the PH balance. Pop your serum on straight away afterwards, when skin is still damp, to get the best results.

2nd place: Sisley Floral Toning Lotion, £65

We’re aware that £65 is probably at the top end of your budget for a toner, but sometimes in life you just have to think, ‘fuck it’. This toner is gorgeous – it removes any final traces of makeup and brings your skin back to the perfect equilibrium. We’d bathe in it if we could.

3rd place: La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion Micro-Exfoliant, £12

Do you have blackheads the size of dinner plates and a face so oily you could keep a chip shop in business? Don’t go another day without this toner – it will change your life.

NIGHT CREAM

1st place: Chantecaille Retinol Intense+, £110

Chaps if you want to fight the signs of ageing, then we recommend two things: use a high SPF every single day and introduce retinol into your nightly routine. Retinol is the technical term for vitamin A and boy, oh boy, is it a wonder ingredient when it comes to holding onto a youthful appearance. It reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens out skin tone, smoothes out any rough texture and firms everything up. Honestly, we could go on. Which is why this Chantecaille Retinol Intense+ wins first prize. Not only does it have twice the amount of retinol in it, compared to its previous version, but it also contains Niacinamide and vitamin C to brighten.

2nd place: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, £53

This hasn’t been one of Estee Lauder’s bestselling products for years and years for no reason at all. You know it works, we know it works. All hail ANR!

3rd place: Erborian BB Sleep Mask, £36

When we say that you wake up with the skin of a newborn baby having used this overnight mask, we are of course being overdramatic.  But when we say that you go to sleep with ‘meh’ skin and wake up to skin that looks like it’s been airbrushed we aren’t lying. At all.
