How to make bath-time better

If there’s one thing that’s going to quash stress, ease sore muscles and make you the chilled AF person you were born to be, it’s a bath. And anything that enhances this chillax session is also a major yes from me. This week I bring you Mauli Rituals, an Ayurvedic-inspired range of oils, candles and skincare. Praise be to the bath.

What you need to know

Mauli is one of those salt of the earth brands; it’s Indian Ayurvedic meets English artisanal aromatherapy in hand-crafted packaging which, I’m sure you’ll agree, sounds pretty bath-time friendly. Don't know what Ayurveda is? It's basically how Hindus traditionally do medicine and it's based on the idea of balance of all elements of the body.

The (married) founders, Anita and Bittu Kaushal, are big advocates of positive energy for a better life; if you feel positive and balanced on the inside, you’re bound to look healthy, happy and radiant on the outside. So the whole range is designed to enhance a healthy, wholesome life – that’s exercise, good food and important things like sleep and meditation.

Even skeptics of the whole holistic thing – I know you’re there – will love the products they have to offer because they’re made with the very best, totally natural ingredients, they smell amazing, look good and actually do what they say they’re going to do.

So… which products?

Himalayan Healing Salts, £42 - Not all baths are created equal and those that don’t have these salts in are infinitely inferior to those that do. Sorry guys. That’s because they have 12 different aromatherapy oils and rose quartz crystals to accompany the Himalayan pink salt blend; they all work together to totally calm the mind, balance pH levels (to help the nutrient-rich salts absorb into skin) and encourage toxins out of the body. Aches and pains will be gone and you get a super relaxing bath too. My favourite.

Grow Strong Hair Oil, £29 – Indian women love oils to keep their thick, glossy hair in amazing condition and this hair oil was formulated to bring this nightly ritual to the rest of us. It’s got everything from moringa and argan oils to turmeric leaf and soothing Himalayan cedarwood, all of which penetrate the scalp and stimulate hair follicles to grow the best hair possible. And it won’t make it greasy either. Apply a few drops to your scalp, massaging into the hair and down through ends, and leave on overnight. Wash off in the morning.

Surrender Body Oil, £44 – Post bath? When skin is damp I practically pour this on myself to lock in moisture. It contains Chamomile and Frankincense, which are two of beauty’s patron saints of sleep and you’ll go to bed feeling cocooned in something so indulgent you won’t want to move. If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, try rubbing this onto pulse points and inhale – it’ll help calm you down.
