The 8 best fake tans for legs

Ahhhhhhh it’s sunny out! And your legs are NOT READY. They haven’t seen sun since your last minute weekend away at the beginning of Autumn. You’re not prepared for this. But it’s actually quite warm out and tights just don’t seem appropriate anymore. You’re going to have to show, at the very least, an ankle. Therefore you need to have in your arsenal at all times a quick fix for pale pins.

What you need is something that you can slap on 15 minutes before you have to run out of the door to work. Luckily, we’ve done the research for you and the following will give you a perfect tint that’ll fool anyone. (Incidentally, if you have more that 15 minutes, then why not completely prep your legs for summer with these handy steps.)

The cult fake tan

Guerlain Terracotta Jolies Jambes – Loved by pretty much every beauty editor both sides of the Atlantic. Every year they change it up slightly, in the past it’s been in oil form, but this year it’s a stunning cream texture that’s a little bit like a tinted moisturizer. It comes in light and medium; the light is really pale, even for fair-skinned ladies, which is great if all you want to cover blemishes, but if you want that sun-kissed look then opt for medium. We're giving you a sneak preview, as this doesn't acutally launch until April. Lucky you.

The travel fake tan

By Terry Tea to Tan – This comes in a fancy glass bottle that looks tres chic in your bathroom. True to it's name, it actually looks like you're rubbing black tea into your skin, which gives the softest hint of tan. It's dreamy. Keep an eye out in May, they're releasing a smaller 30ml bottle that you can take it away with you. Even on budget airlines. Which is good as it’s a little pricey, so you probably wouldn’t be able to afford British Airways anyway.

The sun protecting fake tan

This Works Perfect Legs Skin Protector SPF30 – This product launched last year, without the SPF and not in spray form. It was excellent. The SPF and spray? Even more excellent. It gives a lovely sheer wash of colour and protects you from the sun. Winner.

The quick drying fake tan

Body Shop Honey Bronze Tined Leg Mist – For those who love the By Terry one, but don’t want to spend too much, this is a purse-friendly alternative. Spray it all over, then use a mitt to blend and you pretty much put your clothes on straight away as it absorbs really quickly. Be sure to moisturise beforehand as it goes on best to hydrated skin. The rest of the range is equally as good, in particular the face gel.

The Instagram filter fake tan

Vita Liberata Body Blur Instant HD Skin Finish – Love love love. We already written about our love for this product here.

The sweet smelling fake tan

Legology Sun Lite – This creates a beautiful veil of colour – not a full on tan. So if you’re a typical English rose, then this is ideal as it creates the illusion of colour, without looking ridiculous. Plus it smells of the Mediterranean and lemons, which is a delight.

The easiest to use fake tan

Benefit Hoola Zero Tanlines – You know you love Hoola. We know you love Hoola. Everyone loves Hoola. And guess what? You’re gonna love the body version just as much. It’s a buildable tint that you can apply seamlessly with the handy sponge applicator found in the lid. No streaks here people.

The make-up fake tan

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Dream Legs BB – As the name tells you, this is like your trusty BB that you use when you face is a bit meh. Likewise, with this leg version, if you limbs are a little lifeless, a little patchy then this smoothes everything out and gives you that evenness that you crave.
