I know some people get pretty excited about a brush (read: Katie in her beauty ed’s picks this week) but that’s not me. I can enthuse about a lot of things but a brush ain’t one of them.

There are, however, pivotal moments in life that completely change the way we think and today that happened, thanks to Byredo's brand new Kabuki brushes. I’ve been a die-hard Byredo Bal D’Afrique fan since I started working in the beauty industry – perfumes come and go but Bal D’Afrique is for life. Now I can get it in a perfumed powder. In a retractable brush. That fits in my handbag. Which I can apply at 37,000 feet!

There are three different scents – Bal D’Afrique, Gypsy Water and Blanche – all of which are light, easy to wear and perfect for summer. In fact, pretty much no one in the world has ever disliked a Byredo perfume, so you can’t go wrong; not to mention there is something insatiably glam about applying a perfume using a brush. All you have to do is click the button on the end of the tube, which dispenses just the right amount of powder to dust on your neck and wrist.

It's been a really great day.
