The foundation that’s good for your skin

Us beauty lovers can be demanding. We’re all on the hunt for the perfect foundation that not only makes our skin flawless, but also blurs away imperfections, conceals spots and doesn’t cause us to break out. Oh, and it needs to be a doddle to apply, see us through every situation, from a little natural coverage for popping to the shops, through to a full coverage finish for drinks and the obligatory selfie on a Friday night – we don’t ask for much. And demanding we should be, our products should work as hard as we do. Am I right, ladies?

These kind of holy grail products are few and far between, but for those who expect a lot from their foundation, we think we’ve found a winner. Lo and behold, bareMinerals Original Foundation SPF 15. Remember all the fuss around mineral foundation a couple of years ago? It’s really rather good and ideal for nailing a naturally flawless look. What’s more, it’s kind to skin too! Here’s why you should get excited about mineral foundation:

The formula

If you read ‘mineral foundation’ and think ‘powdery, flat, cakey’, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that this bareMinerals one isn’t – in fact, it’s very much the opposite. Think more ‘undetectable, luminous and weightless’. To apply, you decant a teeny amount into the lid of the pot, swirl in your brush to pick up the minerals, tap the brush on the lid to remove excess product and buff on to your face in circular motions. It not only feels weightless, but silky and creamy to the touch and has a subtle sheen that makes your skin look like it’s glowing from within, much like it’s got an Instagram filter on it IRL.

It’s good for your skin

Foundation should work with our skin, not against it, no? The ingredients list on bareMinerals Original Foundation SPF 15 is comprised of five ingredients. Yes, five! All of which work with your skin:

Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide: These partners in crime not only provide the SPF 15 protection (great for preventing premature ageing and sun damage), but also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties too, helping to keep breakouts well away and calm acne flare-ups.

Mica: This helps to smooth out the ultimate party poopers: fine lines and pesky pores.

Bismuth Oxychloride: This cheeky chappy gives your complexion some serious glow. The kind of glow that comes from downing green juices every morning (minus the effort.)

Iron Oxide: This gives the foundation its pigment.

And that’s it! Wearing this makes us feel way less guilty when we’re conked at the end of a heavy night and forget to take off our make-up.

The coverage can be built from sheer to full

There’s a misconception that mineral foundations don’t provide enough coverage. However, bareMinerals Original Foundation SPF 15 can be buffed on lightly for an undetectable finish or built up in weightless layers to achieve full coverage – minus the cakiness.  The handy pot decants just the right amount of product so you’ll never waste any, which also means you can carry it around for on-the-go touch ups without the fear of it exploding in your bag. What a trooper.

It’s great on all skin types

Whether you’re oily, dry, normal, or a little bit of everything, this foundation works wonders on any skin type. It works well on greasy skin, but is also creamy enough to keep dry skin comfortable and won’t cling to dry patches either. If you like a glowy finish, opt for the original formula. If you prefer a mattified look or have very oily skin, there’s also a matte version. Sorted.

The shade range is excellent

Really excellent, in fact. bareMinerals now have 30 shades of Original Foundation SPF 15 to choose from, ranging from light to dark and everything in-between. There’s also every undertone imaginable, so whether you’re fair with yellow undertones or deep with cool undertones you’re bound to find a shade that’s bang on the money.

We predict a mineral make-up revolution. We’ll see you at the bareMinerals counter…
