We have tried everything in the name of beauty – rubbed lemon juice onto our hair to boost our highlights in the sun, covered our faces in toothpaste in the hope that all zits will disappear overnight and have attempted to drink three litres of water every day, because we once read that it can help you drop a dress size. Some worked (the lemon juice), some didn’t (the water – we swear we almost drowned).
However, we recently discovered that if we made one simple change to the way that we sleep, our skin would look the best it ever has and our hair could rival Kate Mid’s on the shiny scale.
What is this simple step? Swapping cotton pillowcases for silk ones. Why did we do this? Because, little did we know cotton is actually NAT good for skin or hair. Traditional bed linen doesn’t allow your head to glide seamlessly when you’re tossing and turning at night, so can cause tiny scratches, unnecessary tugging and stretching to the face, as well as twisting and drying of hair. Did you know that this was happening whilst you slept? Us neither! So thank goodness that we were introduced to Slip.
Slip pillowcases are made of smooth mulberry silk (sounds fabulous doesn’t it?!), which has a thickness of 22 momme (we’re weren’t entirely sure what momme was either, but apparently it’s the unit of measurement for silk. Every days’s a school day.) Not only are they incredibly chic, so make your bed look fancy as anything, but they also take care of your skin and hair whilst you sleep. We no longer suffer from crazy ‘bed hair’ and our skin looks and feels smoother. We’re sold.
