Has beauty sleep really been bottled?

The beauty industry has a few myths knocking around – but one of them that actually has some truth in it is beauty sleep. There’s no escaping the fact that when you get your eight hours of kip you look physically better for it.  Your blood flow is much better which stops skin looking grey and sallow, your skincare works twice as hard so skin naturally kicks into renewal and you don’t have massive black bags under your eyes. Great, you might be thinking, but what if your boss needs you in for 8am, you’ve got a baby screaming through the night or just can’t tear yourself off your Instagram feed – more sleep is impossible.

But what if you could get all the benefits of a good night’s sleep in a pill you pop before bed? Neal’s Yard have given us a sneak peak of their new Beauty Sleep Supplement launching this November which promises you’ll wake up prettier than you went to sleep.

So is it just a gimmick or does it actually work? We put it through the Powder test and here’s what we found...

We say: We slept better than usual

They say: Each supplement contains chamomile which is well known for its soothing abilities (and handy if you can’t bear to scold you mouth with a tea version). So even if you can’t get as many hours of sleep as you should this will maximize what you do manage to get.

We say: Our skin was definitely smoother and less puffy

They say: The supplements contain Hyaluronic acid (not toxic in anyway, might we just add) which plumps up skin in the right way, by forcing it to hold onto the moisture it brings with it. Skin should look smoother and fresher.

We say: Skin looked brighter (particularly the dark circles)

They say: B vitamins are the reason why. Your skin naturally goes into renewal at night but this makes it work faster and harder.

We say: Wrinkles looked a lot flatter. RESULT!

They say: Goji berries are cropping up everywhere at the moment and it’s because they’re bursting with antioxidants and magnesium that rid skin of ageing toxins and signal to the brain to switch off (so your worry lines won’t get any deeper either!).

Can someone bottle a time machine now too, we want rid of the wrinkles!?
