It takes a lot for a beauty product to impress us here at Powder. But when the J.One Jelly Pack, £32 landed on the beauty desk it soon garnered our attention; four are sold every minute worldwide and it was the best-selling product in Sephora in 2017 – and for 2018 it’s now launched in the UK.

You might have seen this Korean beauty staple on your Instagram feed – it’s become so popular that it’s been coined the ‘corset mask’ for its tightening talents. So what the dickens is it? This jelly-textured formula is essentially a mask-primer hybrid. Its mission? To streamline the time and steps in your morning skincare routine, without scrimping on results. And holy moly, were we impressed.

So what makes it so magical? It’s all in the bouncy gel consistency. It makes such a difference, not just to the application and longevity of your foundation, but also to the texture of your skin. It creates a hydrating, tightening veil that smoothes over pores and wrinkles, leaving an ever-so-slightly tacky film that grips on to your makeup and leaves you with the most insane glow. With this, you can expect to apply your base at 7am and it’ll still look fresh at 7pm. It’s like an invisible, lightweight Velcro for your foundation.

So basically, you can use it as the final step in your skincare routine before applying make-up, much like a primer, but on mornings where you’re really pushed for time, you can get away with applying it straight to cleansed skin, as it’s packed with skincare benefits too. One of its ingredients, fullerene, is an antioxidant that protects skin throughout the day. Paired with the peptides to encourage collagen production and you’ve got yourself a mighty hard worker.

And if that wasn’t enough, you can also use it alone as an overnight mask for skin that needs a bit of a wake-up. It brightens and tightens as you sleep. Is there anything it can’t do? It’s become a permanent fixture on our skincare shelf, that’s for sure.

Up next, the £2.99 moisturiser that's just like La Mer's...
