Skin Notes
A must read if you have normal skin

You lucky buggers – you can pretty much chuck anything on your face and be on your way. You are a rare and wonderful breed. Celebrate this. However, take note: no matter one’s skin type, everyone’s skin needs the same groups of ingredients to thrive: antioxidants, skin-replenishing ingredients, and skin-restoring ingredients.

“Whilst you are the ‘anything goes’ skin type, keep away from products that contain irritating ingredients - including fragrance. Look for multi-benefit antioxidants (like green tea, vitamins C and E, and soy) that improve even seemingly perfect skin,” explains skincare guru Paula Begoun of Paula’s Choice.

Here are four products that we have tested and fallen in love with:

Pixi Glow Tonic, £18 – Somewhat of a cult product, this exfoliating toner has 5% glycolic acid that gently sloughs away dead skin cells to reveal sparkling sunny complexion underneath.

Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Super Antioxidant Serum, £33 – If you suffer from pigmentation, then this will be your best friend. It’s packed with Vitamin C, which brightens dark spots and stimulates collagen. You’ll have a shock when you’re greeted by a much more youthful you in the mirror.

Bare Minerals Daily Prep Lotion, £26 – Not only does this create a beautiful veil over skin meaning that makeup glides on and stays put all day, but it’s also SPF50. Wearing an SPF on a daily, yes daily, is a must says Paula, ‘the moment your skin is exposed to day light, not sunlight, it’s being damaged.”

Elizabeth Arden PRO Hydrating Antioxidant Spray, £28 – Use it before or after make-up to give skin a boost of moisture, whilst also giving the skin added protection from free radicals thanks to the Ferulic Acid and White Tea. Keep it on your desk for regular spritzes.
