You probably haven’t heard of Dr Maryam Zamani, an Aesthetic Doctor and Oculoplastic surgeon based in London, and it’s a God Damn Shame. Why? Not only is Zamani one of those beautiful people we all want to look like but she also knows everything there is to know about skin, an expertise which led her to create her own line of beauty products, MZ Skin

What's the brand about?

Zamani is all about healthy, radiant skin and slowing down the ageing process – you’ve only got to look at her to know whatever she’s doing, it works. So in each product there’s a whole raft of hard-hitting and well thought out ingredients that do everything from brighten and nourish to protect and lift.

In fact, she has a 3-step skincare philosophy - Reveal, Enhance, and Protect – which, she says, covers all bases for the best skin EVER. While Reveal means getting rid of skin-dulling dead skin cells through cleansing and exfoliation (gentle ingredients like Alpha Hydroxy Acids have a big part to play in this), Enhance is all about the serums and moisturisers that boost skin’s inner workings (like stimulate collagen and elastin production to help lift and firm) and of course, nourish the skin that’s there. And then there’s Protect, which is UVA and UVB protection from our old friend, the sun, alongside free radical-busting antioxidants.

Zamani herself is also one of the only female Aesthetic Doctors with a skincare line which means she is particularly passionate and clued up on what women want from their skincare. And, of course, how they want it to look; let’s face it, we want it to look good. MZ Skin is packaged in the best pink and gold packaging, making it a real scene-stealer in every cosmetics cupboard.

What you should buy

I can’t stress enough how universally good these products are. Usually there is at least one or two weak links in a small skincare line like this, but there are none here to be found.

Rest & Revive Restorative Placenta & Stem Cell Night Serum, £195

Hands down, my favourite serum out of a whole arsenal of serums. The skin goes into repair and restore mode over night so it’s really important to use products that support and boost these nightly processes. For that, this is your guy. It actually contains sheep placenta (gross, but it works) alongside stem cells and peptides and these all work to stimulate collagen and elastin production (hello plump, smooth skin) and repair whatever needs to be repaired.

Expect to literally wake up with a brighter, more even face, without having to do very much at all. I apply mine after I’ve cleansed and applied a Hyaluronic Acid serum (Dr Sebagh’s Serum Repair, holla) and then seal it in with an oil like La Mer’s Renewal Oil.

Brighten & Perfect 10% Vitamin C Corrective Serum, £245

This one’s the new guy in the line and despite only using it for a few weeks, I know it’s going to be a bit of a mainstay in my routine. It contains 10% Vitamin C, which basically reduces discolouration in the skin, evens out any rough patches and helps protect from external aggressors, like pollution (it’s an antioxidant). If you’ve got any kind of pigmentation or just want that added luminosity, then this serum is more than worth the money. In fact, it’s clinically proven to brighten skin by 29.4% over 30 days. That’s pretty good going.

Hydra-Lift Golden Facial Treatment Mask, £85 for 5

Now for one of the most fun products in the line – the effervescent gold ‘sheet’ mask. It’s more substantial than a sheet though and is saturated in Vitamin C and collagen particles to plump and firm the skin, so one to use pre-date, pre-party and pre-any-big-occasion. Guaranteed you’ll look like an absolute Queen wearing it – Instagram is optional.

And what I’m really looking forward to? Her new Radiance & Renewal mask which comes out in October. It’s packed full of AHAs and other gentle exfoliating acids that help reduce pigmentation, exfoliate skin and brighten dullness. Counting down the days.
