What is Matrixyl?

Beauty ingredients lingo can be an absolute minefield at the best of times. But knowing the ins and outs can not only help you pick the products that will work for you, but you can also make sure that the ingredients will do exactly what they say they’ll do too. This week, we’re taking a look at Matrixyl…

What is it?

Matrixyl is an anti-ageing ingredient composed of peptides that helps to promote collagen production. This complex works to reduce the look of both static and dynamic wrinkles ie. the wrinkles that appear around your eyes when you chuckle, as well as the ones that are there when your face is resting – no wrinkle is missed here. Using this in your routine will diminish the depth and appearance of niggling fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother looking complexion. A pretty good deal if you ask us.

Who needs it?

If wrinkles have suddenly creeped up on you, or if wrinkles have been bothering you for a while now, make matrixyl your pal. The same goes if you’re starting to see fine lines and sun damage or want to tackle premature ageing before it hits.

Where do we find it?

To scoff: Not for this one!

To smother: Serums, moisturisers, eye creams and body lotions are where Matrixyl likes to hang out.

When should it go on our face?

This one can be used both am and pm after your usual cleansing routine.

Avoid it…

Never. This one’s a safe bet even for sensitive skin types. All aboard the Matrixyl bandwagon!
